General:
Multi-Point
IV Aluminum Combination Gasketing comprises
a length of knitted wire mesh securely crimped into the edge of an extruded
aluminum mounting strip. The mesh may be all metal, usually monel, SnCuFe, or
aluminum; or it may be an elastomer core which provides extra resilience and a
partial seal against rain and dust. Additionally, the wire gasketing may be
inserted in both edges of an aluminum mounting strip, to provide a double
electromagnetic seal; or the second gasket may be a plain elastomer strip
(silicone or neoprene) which provides a separate pressure or weather
seal.
Features:
The extruded
aluminum strip serves as a convenient means for mounting by spotwelds, rivets,
bolts, or sheet metal screws. In addition, the strip serves as a compression
stop to prevent undue pressure on the mesh gasket. It also stiffens the surface
to which it is attached, thereby serving as a load-bearing element in the
structure, able to meet most shock and vibration requirements. |
